Di Marzio: “AC Milan to sign new centre back”

Transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reveals that the departure of Cristian Zapata and Abate will force AC Milan to sign a new defender.

Despite some disappointing results recently, AC Milan will try until the last match to achieve Champions League qualification. It’s a very busy period for the Rossoneri between the league and Coppa Italia but the management is also being active on the transfer market.

Regarding this topic, transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reveals the latest news for Sky Sport. The famous Italian journalist explains the future moves of the club and what AC Milan’s summer priorities will be.

I’m sure Milan will improve, they have an important technical project that should continue ahead with or without Gattuso at the helm. Thanks to Rino’s work, the team has grown and Champions League return is still possible. Certainly they will be very active in the summer window“.

The American ownership has a long-term project. Just look at the big investments made for Paqueta and Piatek, they are two players who will stay long at Milan. The next move is going to be the purchase of a new defender. AC Milan have offered the renewal to Cristian Zapata. However, the Colombian defender wants to play more and will leave the club at the end of the season“.

Another player that should leave Milan this summer is Ignazio Abate. After more than 10 years of service Abate’s adventure at San Siro is coming to an end. The 32-year-old Italian right back will not renew his contract and is expected to continue his career in USA. The departure of both Zapata and Abate, plus the possible sale of Musacchio, will force AC Milan to sign a quality centre back this summer.
