Di Marzio: AC Milan want Monaco striker

AC Milan want to sign Pietro Pellegri from Monaco. The Italian prodigy could be the third striker in Stefano Pioli’s squad.

With 12 days until the end of the summer transfer window, AC Milan is working on several fronts to reinforce and complete the squad available to Mr. Stefano Pioli. In parallel with the hunt for a new attacking midfielder and right winger, the Rossoneri need to sign a third striker before the end of the mercato.

AC Milan have turned their attention on Pietro Pellegri. The 20-year-old Monaco centre forward could join the Rossoneri and play alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud reports Gianluca Di Marzio. The Italian prodigy is pushing to return in Serie A.

CAREER – “Skipping steps” could be the right definition for Pellegri’s arrival in Italian football. After making first professional appearance at 15 years and 280 days in Serie A, equaling the record of the youngest player to debut in the Italian league, Pellegri earned the label of the predestined with the goal scored on the day of Francesco Totti’s farewell to football and the brace scored against Lazio.

These 3 goals in 10 appearances with Genoa, combined with convincing performances, earned him a move to Monaco for record fee of 31 million plus bonuses in January 2018. A few days later, Pellegri made his debut in Ligue 1 and from there his physical ordeal began. The talented striker was tormented by several muscular problems and, in two and a half seasons with Monaco, he manages to make only 23 appearances with 2 goals scored and an assist served. Pietro seems to have finally recovered and is ready to resume his career. AC Milan could be the right option for his relaunch.

CHARACTERISTICS – Fast, good header and physically unbridled, Pellegri is an old-fashioned first striker with modern features. The 20-year-old, acts as a centre forward and is skilled with his back to goal but at the same time knows the right timing to attack the depth. Good ball control and the important physical structure make him dangerous even in one-on-one situations. His 188 cm in height helm him in aerial duels. A player with great growth margins that can benefit a lot playing alongside Ibrahimovic and Giroud.
