Di Marzio: “Milan have done the best job on the market”

Transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is confident that AC Milan are the Italian team to have done the best job on the market.

AC Milan were one of the most active clubs during the summer transfer window. Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara practically achieved all of their goals even though the absence of a new centre back remains the only regret of the management.

The summer started on the high note with Milan renewing Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract for one more year. Later it was time for Simon Kjaer and Alexis Saelemaekers to make their transfers permanent for a total of 7 million euros. The best summer signing of AC Milan is absolutely Sandro Tonali. With half of Europe after him (Barcelona had offered 65 million), the Italian midfielder made his dream true and joined AC Milan instead.

The signing of Ante Rebic was made permanent too for a still unknown figure. Ciprian Tatarusanu will serve as Gigio’s experienced back-up. Jens Petter Hauge was the unexpected signing while Brahim Diaz and Diogo Dalot arrived on loan. While same may be disappointed that a new centre back and Bakayoko didn’t arrive, Gianluca Di Marzio believes otherwise.

In a recent interview with TMW Radio, Di Marzio appreciates the work of Maldini and Massara and considered AC Milan as the team that as done the best transfer business this summer.

Milan have made the best mercato. I liked their transfer very much because they filled the gaps and kept the same base as last year. They signed Tonali, who in my opinion is one of the best young players around, Brahim Diaz and Dalot. I believe Dalot will be a pleasant surprise only for those who do not know him. Milan made exactly the transfer business they had to do, so I really liked their moves“.
