Diego Godin agrees AC Milan transfer

AC Milan have agreed terms with Atletico Madrid captain Diego Godin. The parties are now pushing for a January move to San Siro.

AC Milan sporting director Leonardo has booked Zlatan Ibrahimovic for January and is now on the search for a new centre back. There are many names being linked with the Rossoneri like Rodrigo Caio and Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen but Atletico Madrid superstar Diego Godin is the one that excites most the Red and Black fans.

The Atletico Madrid captain has clashed with his club regarding the new contract renewal and and has rejected any chance for reconciliation. Leonardo was quick to exploit this tremendous opportunity the market has offered and has advanced negotiations for his signing.

According to Quotidano Sportivo, AC Milan have practically closed everything with Godin. The Rossoneri have proposed the Uruguayan a two and a half years contract worth 4 million euros per season. The same source has reported that Diego Godin has accepted AC Milan’s offer and the parties will push for a January transfer.

Godin’s current deal with Los Colchoneros expires in June 2019 but AC Milan want to bring the 32 year old at San Siro much sooner. Considering the injury crisis that has plagued Milanello, with Alessio Romagnoli to return in late December and Caldara and Musacchio out until late February, Milan need a top level defender.

The contract situation of Diego Godin offers Milan the opportunity to sign the Uruguayan defender for a very low fee. Il Giornale reports that 2 or 3 million euros could be more than enough to get their hands on Godin.
