From England: AC Milan working to upset Liverpool for Portuguese attacking midfielder

AC Milan are interested in Fulham wonderkid Fabio Carvalho who was very close to joining Liverpool in January.

One of the biggest critics AC Milan have faced in the last two transfer windows is undoubtedly that of not having signed a new attacking midfielder. The only player available in that role is Brahim Diaz while a replacement is missing. Rade Krunic has been deployed in that position but the Bosnian has completely different characteristics from those of a playmaker.

A new attacking midfielder should arrive in the summer. Brahim Diaz is not enough and Yacine Adli is expected to be used in midfield. According to The Athletic UK, AC Milan have set their sights on Fabio Carvalho. Barcelona, Benfica, Monaco and Sevilla have done the same. However, Liverpool are considered to be in pole position for the 19-year-old Portuguese (who represents England) after his signing fell through in the January mercato.

It seemed like everything was closed done for Fulham playmaker to join Liverpool. In the end, however, the transfer did not materialize. The Cottagers did not let Fabio Carvalho leave despite his contract expiring at the end of June 2022 and therefore Fabio Carvalho will be available on a free transfer soon.

The Reds are working to sign Carvalho having agreed terms once in January while AC Milan hope to upset Liverpool by offering the Portuguese more first-team opportunities reports The Athletic. The 19-year-old has been a standout performer this season in Championship.

Fabio Carvalho has scored 7 goals and assisted another 4 in 18 league appearances attracting the attention of many clubs. The Rossoneri scouts are always attentive to young players with potential.
