From experiment to first option: Gattuso’s latest idea is paying off

In a season where surprises for AC Milan have been almost all unpleasant, Patrick Cutrone remains as perhaps the only positive novelty so far.

It is no longer a simple experiment. After the excellent test in the Italian Cup and the confirmation (despite the final result) at the Bentegodi, Mr. Gattuso is ready to propose Patrick Cutrone in the offensive trident, not at the center of the attack but wide on the left. As La Gazzetta dello Sport points out, the young Rossoneri striker, by nature and willingness to sacrifice, has no problem chasing his opponents and that of today will be a game against a team that runs a lot.

CONFIRMATION – Gattuso initially seemed intent on launching from the first minute Calhanoglu, who has more refined feet than Cutrone, but he is not yet at his best from an athletic point of view. And so, after careful reflection, the option that Rino had put into practice for the first time in TIM Cup against Verona came back to life. Patrick – a player that Gattuso takes very seriously into consideration – gave good signals in that position, also finding a beautiful goal against the Gialloblu at San Siro.

CERTAINTY – Cutrone’s season is certainly way above expectations: 21 overall appearances, 12 of which as a starter and 8 goals scored so far. The former Primavera is the seasonal top scorer of Milan in cohabitation with Andre Silva, but with a much bigger specific weight of goals. Today, as mentioned, he will start on the left, with Kalinic in the middle and Borini on the opposite side. AC Milan’s strikers have yet to prove a lot: instead, Cutrone has already become a certainty.
