Gattuso announces the first January arrival

AC Milan new signing Lucas Paqueta will arrive in Italy in two weeks coach Gennaro Gattuso confirmed yesterday.

The first purchase of AC Milan in the winter transfer window is Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian will soon leave Flamengo to start his new adventure in Italy with the Rossoneri jersey. Coach Gennaro Gattuso spoke of Paqueta’s arrival for the first time in yesterday’s press conference after the 5-2 victory against Dudelange in Europa League.

The coach revealed the Brazilian’s arrival date at San Siro: “Paqueta will arrive in 12-13 days, he will remain 3-4 days in Milan to visit the city and undergo medical exams and athletic tests at Milanello The player then will return on 2-3 January to begin the preparation with us, because it’s on January 3 when the market session officially opens”.

In December Rino will asses the player to better understand what his position on the pitch will be, based on his technical characteristics. Regarding the matter Gattuso said: “We have to understand where to place him“, precisely because football in Brazil is different from the Italian one, and Rino thinks that the tactical aspect is fundamental before deploying the player.

Rino is aware that Lucas Paqueta will have to assimilate the coach’s orders as soon as possible in order to make his debut with Milan. The South American talent has to adapt as central midfielder if he wants to play more in the 4-4-2 that Gattuso aims to use even in the second half of the season. Especially now after the injuries of Lucas Biglia and Giacomo Bonaventura. Paqueta will not be Milan’s only purchase because the management is working to strengthen other departments as well (read here).
