Gazzetta: UEFA to punish AC Milan with big fine

AC Milan management is expecting to learn what sanctions will the Settlement Agreement impose and according to reports the Rossoneri will receive a big fine.

On Sunday against Fiorentina, we will discover if AC Milan will arrive sixth and will qualify directly for the group stage of Europa League or if the Rossoneri will finish the championship in seventh place and will therefore be forced to play three preliminary rounds. But at Casa Milan there is also great expectation for UEFA’s decisions regarding the Financial Fair Play. By May 31st, the Red and Black club will know if the highest governing body in European football will accept the Settlement Agreement request and what the penalties will be.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports this morning that the verdict could arrive in the middle of next week. AC Milan hope that the hand of the commission is not excessively heavy but according to reports, the Rossoneri should receive a fine of around 15-20 million euro and it seems that new Chinese ownership intends to try to share it with the “old” Milan ownership.

Fassone often repeats: “With Uefa, we have an issue which is the result of the previous three-year period, and not of the current management“. New President Yonghong Li could knock on Fininvest’s door in the coming days and ask them to pay at least a part of that amount.

For the moment it is only a hypothesis, in the coming weeks we will eventually know something more concrete about this possibility. The short-term future of Milan will depend on what UEFA will decide. According to the sanctions that will arrive, in fact, the club will decide for example what the budget for the summer market window will be and if it will be necessary to sacrifice some top players. Just a few days and then everything will be clearer.
