Gds: AC Milan go all in for Botman

AC Milan are fully focused on Sven Botman and are in contacts with Lille to find an agreement reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

In the Rossoneri’s initial transfer plans no purchases were planned in defence for the winter window. However, everything changed after the injury of Simon Kjaer who will stay out for at least six months. A huge blow that forced AC Milan to changed strategy and prioritize the signing of a new centre back.

Kjaer is a leader of the team and one of Stefano Pioli’s best players. In his absence, AC Milan have managed to keep a clean sheet only against a Genoa in goal crisis and Salernitana who have the worst attack of Serie A. A new defender is urgently needed and from day one the name of Sven Botman is on top of Paolo Maldini’s list of targets.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that AC Milan have been following the Dutchman for a long time and have continuously monitored his performances since the summer. The Rossoneri are in official contacts with Lille and hope that their good relationship with the French champions will facilitate a potential agreement.

In recent years AC Milan have purchased Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan from Lille while the Ligue 1 side signed Tiago Djalo. Lille’s asking price for Botman is quite high at around 30 million euros, so reaching a deal will not be easy but AC Milan are only focused on the 21-year-old Dutch defender.

The Rososneri are pushing to sign Botman and would like to repeat the same operation that brought Fikayo Tomori to Milanello a year ago. AC Milan have proposed Lille a loan with the option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season for a fee close to €30 million reports Gazzetta.

The Rossoneri are waiting to understand if Lille will accept this solution or not. Milan are not the only club interested in Sven Botman. A number of clubs, particular from England, seem ready to put a lot of money on the plate for the 21-year-old entre back.
