Gerard Deulofeu says goodbye to Milan

With a short post on facebook Gerard Deulofeu announces his departure form AC Milan thanking everyone for an amazing experience.

MILAN TRANSFER NEWS – Gerard Deulofeu’s adventure at AC Milan is coming to an end. He missed yesterdays match against Cagliari due to an injury but that may have been the last we have seen of him in the red and black shirt. The Spaniard, with a post on facebook, thanked the fans and club for the time he spent in San Siro. In the short post the winger writes: “The season has ended. I have only words of appreciation for AC Milan. I have been happy here and i received lots of love from the fans and teammates. Thank you from my heart“.

The 23 year old came at Milan during the January transfer window and has established himself as one of Milan’s best in the last five months. Deulofeu came on loan from Everton but Barcelona has the right to bring him back for a reported clause of 12 million euros. The Catalan club has made it clear they intend to invoke the famous “recompra” clause. Now that coach Luis Enrique has left the team, Barcelona aims to give Deulofeu a chance to prove himself along Leo Messi.

Spanish media claim that ever after his return in Barcelona the possibility Deulofeu leaves again is high. The young winger wants to play the 2018 Wold Cup and is not entirely convinced by the idea of fighting for a starter place with Neymar, Suarez and Messi. It would be almost impossible for the new Barca coach to prefer Deulofeu instead of the much acclaimed trio that has led Barcelona in the last years. Unlikely Gerard will accept to be just a substitute in Camp Nou. Could it be that Deulofeu’s future is again at the rossoneri? There is little chance of that happening but nothing can be excluded. Fassone and Mirabelli have been hunting for a new winger for a while. Keita is an objective but convincing Lazio has been difficult while Papu Gomez is not considered as a reliable choice. If Milan fail to sign one of this objectives Mirabelli could turn to the Spanish talent.  After all Deulofeu remains one of Montella’s favorite players. With Milan the 23 year old played 17 matches scoring 4 goals and assisting 3 times.
