Giroud calls ex Chelsea teammate to join him at Milan

AC Milan new striker Olivier Giroud has called his former teammate Hakim Ziyech to join him at the Rossoneri.

Today the presentation press conference of Olivier Giroud, the new number 9 of Milan, was held at Casa Milan. The French striker, fresh from the beautiful goal in the friendly match against Nice, at the request of the journalists addressed important issues concerning the Rossoneri team and his motivations and feelings after joining Milan.

A significant question was posed to the former Chelsea striker concerning his former teammate Hakim Ziyech. The Moroccan player spent last season at the Blues alongside Giroud and the two enjoyed Champions League success. Ziyech is an important transfer target of the Rossoneri. Maldini and Massara want him for the right winger role.

Talks were held between the two clubs but Chelsea are reluctant to let him leave on loan as per Maldini’s request. Olivier Giroud is aware of the situation and called his former Chelsea teammate to join him at AC Milan.

Ziyech? He is a great player. Ziyech has great technical skills and experience, and the more players of this level arrive at Milan the better for all of us. That’s why I’ll be happy if I can play with him here too”, said Giroud.

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel doesn’t count much on Hakim Ziyech. The Premier League side are open to let the former Ajax leave but they want to recoup the 40 million euros they spent one year ago. Instead, Milan would prefer an initial loan move with an option to buy.
