Journalist: AC Milan have signed the new Kvaratskhelia

AC Milan new signing Samuel Chukwueze is being backed to repeat what Khvicha Kvaratskhelia did last season.

AC Milan are the most active Italian club on the transfer market. The Rossoneri have so far completed eighth signings for a total of around 120 million euros invested. AC Milan have completely revamped the midfield following the departure of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle and have done nearly the same for the attack.

Chistian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze have reinforced the right winger while Noah Okafor will partner with Olivier Giroud up front. Nevertheless, it is the purchase of Samuel Chukwueze from Villarreal that has caught the eye most and not only because of the €28 million fee that has made him Milan most expensive transfer this summer.

The arrival of Chukwueze ha generated a lot of excitement among the Rossoneri fan base. There is a general consensus that AC Milan have finally landed a Rafael Leao-like player for the right wing after many years of disappointment. Double numbers in goals and assists (13 goals and 11 assists) last season seem to justify the hype.

Mimmo Cugini, journalist of La Gazzetta dello Sport, compares Chukwueze to Napoli sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. “In my opinion, he can be last year’s Kvaratskhelia in the new season. I’ve seen Samuel play many times this year and it’s impressive. If Pioli succeeds immediately to integrate him into the group and in his idea of football he is one of those who will entertain“.

It looks like Chukwueze has what it takes to repeat what Kvaratskhelia did last season. Blessed with explosive pace, a wicked left foot and dazzling dribbling, the 24-year-old has got the raw materials of a modern-day winger. His pace and acceleration allow him to get past opposition defences in a swift manner similar to bikes on an expressway. On his day, he could be as slippery as butter, sitting defenders down as he cuts in to shoot on his stronger left foot. All these attributes that have earned him the nicknames, the Nigerian Flash and the Nigerian Arjen Robben.
