Milan about to close 12 millions rated Italian defender

With Gustavo Gomez and Gabriel Paletta about to be sold, AC Milan have already identified their replacement. A highly promising Italian centre back.

AC Milan currently do not plan to make big name purchases in this winter transfer window. The situation is clear: the club has other priorities and considers the squad already complete, however certain moves will be made to strengthen the team.

Coach Gennaro Gattuso has not made any specific requests but he knows that some reinforcement would do well for the team. In midfield in particular but also in defense. Today the Italian media reports the latest regarding AC Milan’s interest for Armando Izzo of Genoa. Calciomercato.com explains the situation regarding the red and blacks defensive target.

Massimiliano Mirabelli follows the central defender since he was at Inter. The sales of Gustavo Gomez and Gabriel Paletta could open the doors for a new arrival. An exchange was speculated with Mateo Musacchio or Cristian Zapata, but these are difficult hypotheses, if not impossible. The two Rossoneri defenders in fact earn too much for Enrico Preziosi’s club. Meanwhile, Genoa values Izzo at 15 million euros but a deal can be closed at 12. Genoa continue to resist and insist Milan pay 15 millions also because the Neapolitan centre back has many fans around Italy and Europe. In fact, Lazio, Stuttgart and Schalke 04 are monitoring the situation.

Armando Izzo

Izzo is a highly reated Italian defender and seems ready for the next step. However Milan have now decided that the team will continue with the defense of four and focus on the duo Leonardo Bonucci-Alessio Romagnoli. Musacchio and Zapata are considered good reserves (even if not fully reliable) for the moment. AC Milan will give the green light for this transfer only when the club closes the sale of Gomez and Paletta
