Milan, Bakayoko important but not indispensable: here is why

Tiemoue Bakayoko has become one of AC Milan’s most important players however his permanence for next season is still not sure.

The transformation of Tiemoue Bakayoko is his first season in Italy has been astonishing. After some amateurish performances in the beginning of the season, the 24 year old defensive midfielder has become one of AC Milan’s best players and a pillar of the first team.

AC Milan signed Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea and have the right to make his move permanent at the end of the season for 35 million euros. Coach Gattuso and the management have declared they will do everything in their power to keep the former Chelsea at San Siro but qualification to Champions League for next season is crucial in this regard.

However, reports Tuttosport, even the French colossus has defects. Although he is undoubtedly one of the best defensive midfielders in Serie A, when tried in the role of central midfielder Bakayoko’s performances have not been convincing. His pairing with Lucas Biglia didn’t work well and alone Tiemoue can not play as regista.

The player, emphasizes the Italian newspaper, is certainly important for Milan, but not completely indispensable. Precisely because of the need to make him play in a new role and, consequently, weakening the department in terms of imagination with more muscle and lower quality.

If at the end of the season AC Milan secure a spot in Champions League then the club will certainly sign Bakayoko on permanent basis but if the Rossoneri fail, the situation would be very complicated and the chances to see Bakayoko again at San Siro slim. At least according to Tuttosport.
