AC Milan want Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino to replace Gattuso

With or without Champions League AC Milan will sack Gattuso at the end of the season. Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino is the dream for the bench.

A decisive final rush. The upcoming games will determine if AC Milan will play in Champions League next season but also the future of coach Gennaro Gattuso. Because without a place in the top four the farewell of Rino would be practically certain, however, even qualification to Champions may not be enough to keep Gattuso at San Siro.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, AC Milan want Mauricio Pochettino to take the Rossoneri bench. New club CEO, Ivan Gazidis, is a big fan of the Tottenham coach. The 47-year-old Argentinian fits the requirement of AC Milan: a coach of international experience, proactive and ready to enhance and help grow a group of young talents.

The former centre back is in his fifth year at Tottenham. Pochettino favours a very high-pressing, attacking style of football. Exactly what Gazidis, Leonardo and Maldini want from the team. Pochettino is also well-known for his willingness to focus and develop players from the youth academy and promote them to first team.

Champions League qualification is also important to acquire the services of Pochettino. Without European football it would be very difficult for Milan to convince Mauricio Pochettino to leave Tottenham and start a new project in Italy.

Furthermore, Gattuso has two years remaining in his contract with Milan and, in case the club fire him, Rino must be paid 10 million euros. Reports from Italy indicate Gattuso as the future coach of AS Roma with his friend Francesco Totti ready to trust Rino the capital team.
