Gattuso: “Do as I say or I will destroy you”

If anyone had doubts whether Gattuso was going to be tough with his players or not, yesterday’s match against Bologna was a perfect answer.

The effects of the ‘cure’ brought by Gennaro Gattuso have started to be felt immediately. The first signs of revival were seen against Bologna, beaten by 2-1 yesterday at San Siro. Obviously it is too soon to say that AC Milan has come out of the crisis, it takes time and results to certify the exit from such a dark tunnel. But yesterday it was important to win the 3 points in order to start the ascent, after the recent disappointments. First mini-goal achieved, now we need continuity and improvements in next challenges.

Gennaro Gattuso’s fighting spirit can do well for a team that needs to find itself both from a mental and a physical point of view. The work of Rino, who has a glorious past as a player but who in recent years has coached studying a lot, can produce good effects. Surely winning his first game at San Siro makes him happy, but he is not satisfied.

To understand his spirit, just think of what he said during the game to his boys at some point: “If you do not do what I tell you, I will destroy you in the week”. The phrase was reported by Il Corriere dello Sport, but it had already emerged yesterday during the live broadcast of the match by Sky Sport. Provoking Gattuso’s anger is beleived to have been Gigio Donnarumma. But the fiery former Italy midfielder insists it’s just part of his style and revealed even his son is feeling the heat after his new job. He explained: “I’m always tense, even when I play football with my son but certainly on this bench it’s even more exciting.
