Europa League Team of the Group Stage

Now that the group stage is over UEFA has selected the best performers of Europa League so far. Room only for one Milan player.

Using stats gleaned from the FedEx Performance Zone, UEFA.com selects the players that shone brightest in the six group stage games, with Aritz Aduriz considered as the most sparkly of all. In the special best eleven there is place only for one AC Milan player.

While Andre Silva has yet to find his first goal in Serie A this year, he has done very well in Europa League so far. There are 8 goals scored form the rossoneri’s number 9 between preliminaries, playoff and group stage. Almost in every match won by AC Milan the Portuguese youngster has been one of the best on the pitch.

The 22 year old striker hit six active goals to join Rigoni and Dynamo Kyiv ace Junior Moraes as top scorer in the group stage, having also notched four times in the UEFA Champions League last season with Porto. Hopefully he can continue with the same rhythm in the upcoming Serie A match where his goals will be needed much more now with Gattuso on the bench.
