Milan and Inter reach agreement for the future of San Siro

Finally, after a year of heated negotiations and controversies, the question related to the future of the San Siro stadium should be resolved positively.

The historic Milanese facility, home of both AC Milan and Inter, was at the center of controversy and discussion between the two clubs and the Milano municipality, which had clamored for the restructuring of the shared stadium and above all clarity on the intentions of both clubs.

During the Chinese era of Milan, with Yonghong Li at the helm, the Rossoneri had interrupted the dialogue starting to think about a project concerning a new 100% owned stadium, to be built preferably inside the city ring, but since the arrival of Elliott Management as new owners of the Red and Blacks, Milan has returned to negotiate with the historic rivals to find a proper solution.

Soon, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport, the two clubs should announce a cohabitation and co-management agreement for San Siro. AC Milan and Inter will share the expenses of the estimated 15 million euros for the restructuring of some internal areas, and then deal with the Municipality for a concession (transfer of the surface rights) of no less than 99 years.

Technically, one can not speak of ownership from the two clubs but it will go very close to this concept. In a century San Siro will return in the hands of the municipality but for this long time, Milan and Inter are ready to cohabit and consider the “La Scala of football” as their own home for the present and the future.
