Higuain-Cutrone deadly duo: record numbers

AC Milan striking partners Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone are scoring this season at record-breaking pace.

The goal problem of recent seasons is now just a distant memory at Casa Milan. The Rossoneri have netted 18 goals so far and currently have the third best attack of Serie A. The Red and Black devil had not scored so much after nine rounds since 2014-15.

Gonzalo Higuain on one side and Patrick Cutrone on the other. Hungry and insidious. Together, lethal. As  emphasized by La Gazzetta dello Sport, it is undeniable that the two strikers make the Gennaro Gattuso’s team much more dangerous.

The match with Sampdoria is the perfect example. Against a team that so far had conceded only 4 goals in the league, the Rossoneri bagged 3 in 90 minutes. The 4-4-2 formation works, as does the tandem of the two strikers. The duo, underlines the newspaper, wisely divide the space up front, especially vertically. Bombers and assist mans at the same time. What more could Rino ask for!

The seasonal numbers of El Pipita, especially considering that it’s his first season at San Siro, are very respectable with a goal every 128 minutes. The Italian youngster has scored less but his contribution is even better. A goal every 47 minutes so far for Cutrone, one every 127 since his Serie A debut last year. A monstrous average for a 20 year old centre forward.

And if in general union is strength, at Casa Milan math confirms it. When played together, Gonzalo Higuain and Patrick Cutrone have scored a total of 8 goals in 232 minutes. A goal every 29 minutes, simply lethal. Another positive aspect is the evolution of Cutrone, the 20 year old has become much more concrete this season and the effect of Higuain is obvious.
