Gattuso at risk, Donadoni being eyed as his replacement

AC Milan’s disappointing performance against Inter could have fatal consequences for Gattuso with Roberto Donadoni being eyed as his replacement.

Here we go again. The position of Rino Gattuso is shaky after the derby loss on Sunday. Not for the result but rather for the way how it had happened following the three consecutive draws against Cagliari, Atalanta and Empoli. The situation of the AC Milan coach returns to be a complicated one and, after that of Antonio Conte, there is a new ghost that hovers over his head, that of Roberto Donadoni, former Rossoneri player currently without a team.

La Gazzetta dello Sport explains this morning that for the moment there has not been any contact between the parties (yet) but in the event of another negative result the former Bologna, Napoli and Italy coach would be the first name on the list.

For Gattuso the next three games will be vital even if there is not a real deadline from the club. The management has reiterated their trust on the technician but immediately expects a reaction tomorrow night against Real Betis in Europa League. It’s important that the team leaves behind the derby defeat and moves ahead.

The derby debacle did not leave a bitter taste in the mouth only for the defeat, but especially for the performance of Milan. Leonardo and Maldini did not like the attitude of the team and some substitutions of Gattuso. This season, it will be essential for the Rossoneri club to achieve Champions League qualification and can’t afford to leave points on the road. Gattuso has the support of the great majority of Milan team but results are needed to get rid of the Donadoni rumors.
