Messaggero: Milan to make new offer for Milinkovic-Savic

AC Milan were very close to signing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the summer for a record breaking fee. Now, the Rossoneri want to make a new attempt.

For much of the summer AC Milan negotiated the purchase of Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Since taking over at AC Milan, sporting director Leonardo admitted that the central midfielder is the player he mostly appreciates in Serie A considering his qualities and potential for improvement.

With only 20 days at his disposal, during the summer transfer window, Leonardo tried to sign Milinkovic-Savic in a deal that would have made him the most expensive transfer in Serie A history. The Rossoneri offered 120 million euros (loan plus obligation to buy) but in the last day of the transfer market it was impossible for Lazio to find a proper substitute.

The operation failed but AC Milan are ready to renegotiate. According to Il Messaggero, contacts with Lazio continue and the Rossoneri could soon present a new offer. 9 million euros for loan and obligation to buy set at 70 million payable in three installments.

In addition, AC Milan are willing to offer also Diego Laxalt. However, Lazio want to postpone every discussion for the eventual sale of the Milinkovic-Savic at the end of the season. Even though AC Milan are under scrutiny from UEFA, the club wants to sign a top player that can guarantee a place in Champions League for next season.
