Montella: “Milan worthy of Champions. Berlusconi? Advice I did not like”

Vincenzo Montella was tonight at the Casino of Campione at the event known as “The Night of the Stars”. The Rossoneri coach released some short statements for the present journalists.

These are his words for Premium Sport in view of Sunday’s Inter Milan derby: “Fundamental match, we need a win, in any way. I am confident and in my opinion we are on the right track. We are evaluating Kalinic’s condition day by day. We have to wait and see if he will recover for the derby, it will be a last-minute decision. Cutrone? He has will, hunger, desire, enthusiasm and deserves this moment. At the beginning of the season he was a small bet, I’m happy with his continuous growth.

AC Milan’s coach then passed at Sky Sport’s microphones: “We are approaching the derby and we are ready. I feel confident, I am very calm and happy about the public demonstration of the club (Fassone has confirmed several times the club’s faith in Montella). I do not back down from responsibilities. The derby comes at the right time and I am very confident. The path is the right one so we need to have conviction and a touch of serenity more. The derby is particular and it takes heart and head in addition to the technique.

Inter-Milan derby could see both Suso and Giacomo Bonaventura start from the first minute. Montella replied: “They are two important players from whom I expect a lot. We must and can do more, in a process of change it is normal that there are ups and downs. I expect that they’ll carry forward a convincing performance, with a different result than what we saw against Roma. I want more aggressivity in the last 30 meters, something that missed in the last game.

The rossoneri coach is convinced that the team can reach Champions League qualification, a declared goal for him and the club: “We have the potential to finish in the top 4, this goal must be almost like an obsession to us. The team is there and the players are there to center these goals.

Last but not least, Montella spoke of Silvio Berlusconi and of the former president’s criticism towards him and the club: “He has the right to say what he wants, for my part I’ll always be listening. I hear all the advice, but I’m always the one deciding. My choices must be autonomous. I like to listen and elaborate the tips, I did not like Berlusconi’s last year’s suggestions.”
