Mourinho trying to sabotage AC Milan goalkeeper agreement

New Roma coach Jose Mourinho is already planning the summer mercato and will challenge AC Milan for the new goalkeeper.

For nearly one year, the Gianluigi Donnarumma renewal saga has been a big disturbance for the AC Milan management and squad. The Italian goalkeeper wants more money and his agent Mino Raiola claims to have better offers from other clubs. The Rossoneri refuse to be blackmailed and have already booked his replacement.

AC Milan have a total agreement with Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan to take Gigio’s place in case he leaves. The French goalkeeper would cost around 15 million euros and sign a long-term contract of more than €2.5 million per season, plus bonuses. However, Roma are trying to get in their way.

The Italian capital club recently announced the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their new coach. The Portuguese coach has already started to prepare for the next season and signing a new goalkeeper is on top of his mercato wish list.

Pau Lopez has been a disappointment since his arrival from Real Betis and the Giallorossi are looking for a new number one. According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto and Mourinho have targeted Mike Maignan. The French goalkeeper is sure to leave Lille this summer with hic contract expiring in one year.

Unlike Milan, who are waiting for Donnarumma’s answer, in order to complete the transfer, Roman can sign Mike without any problems. Roma have the luxury to offer Maignan the chance to be their number one immediately after the end of the season.
