Leonardo to succeed Gattuso as Milan coach?

Sporting director Leonardo could be the one to succeed Gennaro Gattuso as AC Milan coach. At least, until the summer.

The future of Gennaro Gattuso is the hottest topic of the moment. Everyone expected a victory with Frosinone in order to drive away the crisis and rumors. Instead, a useless draw arrived, very disturbing above all for the negative performance of the team.

This is why, according to many, the fate of the AC Milan coach is already marked. A victory against Spal may not be enough for Rino to earn his confirmation. According to Sportmediaset, the Rossoneri are making assessments on the subject and the alternative names are always the same (read here).

The Wenger hypothesis is very fascinating but difficult even for language issues. Guidolin, a friend of president Paolo Scaroni, has proposed himself to Milan but has not coached since 2016. No inquiries for Paulo Sousa, while Roberto Donadoni is hoping for a call. The former Rossoneri star is still under contract with Bologna but freeing him would not be a problem.

The biggest problem for Milan would be to have two coaches on the club’s payroll. The real objective of Elliot Management is to bet on a top coach in the summer, like Antonio Conte, so at the moment the club does not want to pay two managers. That’s why, according to Sportmediaset, the clamorous idea of a return of Leonardo on the bench is being considered.

The Brazilian, that currently serves as sporting director of the club, could consider this opportunity to lead the team until the end of the year. In this scenario it wold be up to Paolo Maldini to take an even more central role and serve as both sporting director and technical director.
