Leonardo to resign and join PSG

AC Milan sporting director Leonaro will resign today. The Brazilian leaves AC Milan after just one season with PSG his likely destination.

After just one season, Leonardo’s adventure as sporting director of AC Milan is coming to an end. Today, the Brazilian former midfielder will leave the Rossoneri club after a rather eventful year confirms La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Arriving at the end of July after the termination of the Chinese era of president Yonghong Li, Leonardo immediately closed the signing of Higuain and Caldara from Juventus and subsequently completed the arrival of Bakayoko on loan from Chelsea.

The last two signing of the Brazilian were Samu Castillejo from Villarreal and Diego Laxalt from Genoa. Unfortunately, apart from the French midfielder, the management and Gazidis consider all the others as flops. Things went much better in January when Lucas Paqueta and Piatek arrived. The two become regular starters for Gattuso’s side and should be important players of the first team for many seasons. The same cannot be said of Leonardo, who today will greet Milan.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Leonardo’s future could be in Paris again. PSG will trust him once again the sporting leadership of the club which this year failed again in Champions League. The leaders of the rich French club, despite the victory of the league and the Super Cup, are not satisfied with the performances of Tuchel’s team and for this reason they would be thinking of changing something also at management level.

PSG’s backbone is still composed by several Leonardo’s signings. It was the Brazilian who brought in France Thiago Silva (plus Ibrahimovic) and Marquinhos in defence, Marco Verratti and Adrien Rabiot in midfield and the attack is still led by Edinson Cavani.
