Official – Lega Serie A decide derby date

On 4 March, AC Milan were supposed to play the Derby della Madonnina against Inter, unfortunately that Sunday morning Fiorentina’s captain Davide Astori passed away and all games were cancelled.

All the remaining Serie A games of that round including obviously the derby were postponed. In the following days there was an insistent discussion about the possible date to play the derby and now the Italian football federations has announced the final decision: Milan-Inter will be played on Wednesday, April 4 at 18:30 CET. A decision that will probably create a lot of controversy and above all a few inconveniences to those who had bought the tickets long ago.

The Lega Calcio has applied the regulation that provides for the recovery of the postponed games within 15 days, or on the first useful date. In order to place the derby on another date, for example on April 25, an agreement between all the parties involved was required, but Inter and other clubs were not in favor of another postponement.
