Paqueta salutes Flamengo: “Ready for a new adventure”
Brazil star Lucas Paqueta bids farewell to Flamengo as he prepares to join AC Milan and start his Italian adventure in January.
AC Milan new purchase Lucas Paqueta, who in January will officially become a Rossoneri player, spoke to Globo Esporte on the last match he will play with Flamengo’s jersey next Sunday against Atletico Paranaense.
“It’s time to say goodbye, I’m ready to start the new adventure (at Milan). I thank Flamengo for all that it has given me, but after 12 years I think it’s the right time to leave. In the next few days I will have many things on my mind. I have to rest and work well to prepare for the last game. a goodbye, not a farewell“.
The Rossoneri signed the 21 year old attacking midfielder for 35 million euros, a figure that can increase up to 45 million. A masterstroke by sporting director Leonardo who managed to beat the tough competition of PSG and Manchester United.
There’s a lot of curiosity regarding Paqueta’s role at Milan. Coach Gennaro Gattuso currently plays without an attacking midfielder while the left winger position has been occupied by Calhanogly so far. Taking into consideration even the recent injury situation in midfield we will more likely see Paqueta as part of the midfield trio.
