Pioli to make surprising choice in attack

With Ibrahimovic injured and suspended, coach Stefano Pioli has a tough decision to make in attack for Juventus vs Milan.

On 12 June, Italian football resumes after some very difficult months for the entire country. The opening math will be the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and AC Milan.

In the first match the Rossoneri offered a great performance unfortunately Cristiano Ronaldo equalized in the 91-st minute with a penalty kick. Ante Rebic had scored the opening goal for AC Milan.

Three key Rossoneri players like Theo Hernandez, Samu Castillejo e Zlatan Ibrahimovic are suspended while Leo Duarte is absent because of injury. The lack of these players will make Stefano Pioli’s job even more difficult.

The Italian coach is currently puzzled between the 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 formation but the second is more likely to be his final choice. An attacking-minded Milan that will play with only one centre forward. It will be Ante Rebic to lead the attack with Hakan Calhanoglu and Lucas Paqueta in his support.

A surprising choice because Ante Rebic has always played as left winger or second striker at most. However, Pioli is reluctant to rely on Rafael Leao, the logical choice. The Portuguese striker is not yet a reliable player. He is not cold in front of the goal thus forcing Pioli to rely on Rebic instead who has been on a goal scoring spree in 2020 until football was stopped.
