Gattuso wants AC Milan player at Napoli

Former AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso could reteam with Ricardo Rodriguez as Napoli are in search of a new left-back.

Apart from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, AC Milan need to make at least one sale when the January transfer window opens to finance the purchase of a new defender with Jean-Clair Todibo being the top choice. And the help, in this sense, could come directly from a former Milan player and coach. That is Gennaro Gattuso.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the new Napoli coach, who is tasked with a difficult job of reviving the Partenopei after Ancelotti’s sacking, would love to have under his orders AC Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez.

In addition to a central midfielder, Rino has asked Napoli to sign a left-back. Because with Faouzi Ghoulam is unable to give physical guarantees, there is the only Mario Rui available in that position or at times Elseid Hysaj, who is a right-back, has often been adapted on the left. Ricardo Rodriguez too is looking for a way out of Milan to better be prepared for Euro 2020.

After 41 appearances with Gattuso, with three goals and eight assists, the Swiss has made just four starts under Marco Giampaolo and Stefano Pioli. The immense Theo Hernandez is the undisputed starter on the left and the most in-form AC Milan player this season. It’s clear that if Rodriguez wants more play time he must leave the Rossoneri and his agent is eager to discuss a move.

From January he must play, the European is coming and he wants to play it as a protagonist. At Milan he is not finding space and we have made it clear to the club that he must play. For Gattuso he would go everywhere, even in Serie B, at Benevento too. We don’t want to put pressure on Gattuso, but if there’s a chance we’ll wait. Among other things, Ricardo loves Napoli, he spent his holidays there. He wants to play. If Milan loan him out, then he should be replaced with another loan. Nevertheless, we will find a solution, there are professionals at Milan“. AC Milan value Rodriguez at €15-20 million.
