Barcelona starlet accepts AC Milan transfer

Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo has accepted a move to AC Milan. The Rossoneri could pay around €25 million for the talented centre-back.

Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo says yes to AC Milan. According to reports by Calciomercato, the French centre-back has accepted a January move to Italy. The 19-year-old starlet is intrigued by an experience in Italy and has communicated his decision to both Barcelona and AC Milan. The two clubs are now in contact to understand the feasibility of the deal.

There is a desire to close on both sides, but the knot remains the formula of the operation. Barcelona as always would like to insert a buy-back clause in the contract while AC Milan do not want to value players that can be signed back by their former clubs. Similarly to what happened with Mehdi Demiral and Dani Ceballos during the summer.

It will not be easy to reach a deal with Barcelona but the Rossoneri can count on the player’s will to dress the Red and Black jersey. If everything goes on the right director AC Milan would pay a fee of €20-25 million for Todibo while Juventus wanted at least 30 million for 21-year-old Turkish defender.

The operation is an initiative of AC Milan technical director Paolo Maldini who was impressed by Todibo’s performance in the Champions League match against Inter. Maldini remains in contact with Barca’s director of football Eric Abidal. Imposing physicality, personality, young and great potential for improvement. These are the main characteristics of Todibo that have convinced Milan to try to buy him.

After Milan-Sassuolo, when asked about signing a new defender when January transfer window opens, Maldini said: “We are sincerely open to signing talented players no matter their role on the pitch. The injury of Duarte is problem that puts us in a bit of a crisis in defense even if Caldara is closely returning to full fitness. We’ll see“.
