New AC Milan coach: The number ONE candidate

Marco Giampaolo and AC Milan are set to part ways very soon with former Roma and Marseille coach Rudi Garcia the most likely name for the job.

The Rossoneri suffered yet another defeat after the ones against Inter and Torino. With a masterclass performance at San Siro, Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina thrashed AC Milan winning 3-1 and totally dominating the match.

The management is evaluating the situation of the squad and there is a real risk that Marco Giampaolo may not survive the next 48 hours. Even if he leads the squad against Genoa, a win may not be enough to save his job as AC Milan coach.

The names of Giampaolo’s successor have begun to circulate. From unrealistic names like Massimiliano Mirabelli, Arsene Wenger and Luciano Spalleti to true candidates like Rudi Garcia and Claudio Ranieri reports Sportmediaset.

At the moment Rudi Garcia is considered to be the number one option for the job. The Frenchman coached Roma for three seasons between 2013 and 2016 rivaling Juventus for the Serie A title. After three seasons at Marseille, Garcia is free and waiting for the next opportunity since May. Previous experience in Serie A is a big advantage for the 55-year-old coach.

At one point the name of Andriy Shevchenko was mentioned as a possible successor to Giampaolo. However, the arrival of the former striker is just a rumor. Shevchenko will continue to coach the national team of Ukrainea and aims to qualify for Euro 2020.
