AC Milan holding talks with surprising name for the attack

AC Milan have joined the race to sign Santiago Gimenez who is having a fantastic first season with Feyenoord.

AC Milan are expected to sign at least one centre forward this summer. The contract of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is unlikely to be renewed while Divock Origi has been a total flop and the club is already trying to sell him. The names of Gianluca Scamacca and Alvaro Morata have been linked with AC Milan but they are not convincing names for Maldini and Massara. Rasmus Hojlund would be a dream signing but his price tag at €50 million is considered prohibitive.

There is a suspicion that AC Milan’s real targets for the attack have not been mentioned in public until now. Such a scenario was reinforced by a meeting held today at Casa Milan headquarters. Paolo Maldini had a discussion with the representatives of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

The Rossoneri have joined the race for the Mexico international. Santiago Gimenez joined Feyenoord only last summer but immediately established himself as one of the best players in Netherlands. With 23 goals and 3 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions Gimenez played a key role in Feyenoord’s league triumph.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation in Eredivise this season but his price tag has not skyrocketed yet. Feyenoord are asking bids in the region of €20 million for Santiago Gimenez according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The would be an affordable price tag for the Rossoneri who also need to spend in other positions.

Gimenez is known for his creative and aggressive style of play that has made him to attract the attention of Manchester United as well. A powerful striker with great ball control that resembles a young Ibrahimovic. The only issue is that he doesn’t have a European passaport and would take one of the two available non-EU slots in the squad.
