Theo Hernandez sets new record with Venezia performance

Year over year Theo Hernandez continues to demonstrate he’s a key AC Milan player and one of the best in the world.

Theo Hernandez entered the match in the second half of Milan-Venezia, when the result was 0-0, and he completely changed the fate of the game. First with the slick assist for Brahim Diaz which led to the 1-0 in favor of the Rossoneri and then with the fantastic goal of the double advantage. Theo was undoubtedly the man of the match against Venezia.

After some less than brilliant appearances, Stefano Pioli opted to let his left-back catch his breath. Fode Ballo-Toure made his first minute debut against Venezia. The rest did not hurt Theo at all, who took over in the 59th minute and put in all his recovered energy. Theo was a real train on the left flank, he took the team on his shoulders and led them to victory.

The French full-back continues to grow and improve and has now established himself as one of the best in the world in his role. With the goal and assist against Venezia, Theo Hernandez has set a record for an AC Milan defender.

OPTA Paolo, specialized in drafting football statistics, reports an important data regarding Theo Hernandez and his numbers in last night’s match at San Siro. The French full-back is the first AC Milan defender to score one goal and provide an assist in a single Serie A match since the data has been collected, since the 2004/2005 season.

An important milestone for Theo who at times seems like everything except a defender. There are very few full-backs in world football who possess such offensive characteristics and who are able to reach the opponent’s area so easily. The last AC Milan defender to make a goal and an assist was Serginho in the derby against Inter. However, Serginho started the match from the first minute unlike Theo who played for nearly 30 minutes in total.
