TMW: Newcastle in talks with AC Milan star

Newcastle have joined the race for Alessio Romagnoli. The AC Milan captain becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

The coming weeks will be very important for the future of AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli. The 27-year-old centre back is reflecting carefully on the decision to take regarding his future and has not yet abandoned any hypothesis.

AC Milan’s contract renewal is still on the table but his permanence is highly unlikely. The Rossoneri are offering Romagnoli 3 million per season, half of what he’s currently earning. The Italy international is set to lave San Siro after seven seasons. Lazio will most probably be the next destination of Romagnoli. Maurizio Sarri’s squad have offered him a five-year contract at 3.5 million per season, plus the opportunity to be a regular starter.

However, something has moved in recent weeks. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Alessio Romagnoli has attracted attention from the Premier League. Newcastle have recently joined the race for the AC Milan captain. Newcastle consider Romagnoli a valid alternative to Sven Botman.

Newcastle are offering Romagnoli a higher salary than other clubs. The English side have reportedly had a meeting with Romagnoli’s agent, Mino Raiola, to discuss about the future of the Italian defender. Newcastle are not the only foreign club interested in Alessio Romagnoli.

Sevilla are also interested in Romagnoli to replace Jules Kounde. Three interesting options for the Italian defender who will wait until the end of the season to make a final decision. Lazio are in advantage but offers from the Magpies and Sevillia could be too tempting to tun down.
