Towards Milan-Roma: Gattuso changes Calhanoglu position

AC Milan will try to quickly forget the unpleasant memory of Napoli and fight for the first three points this season against Roma at home.

Following last Saturday’s defeat against Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso aims to make some changes for the upcoming game against Roma. Fortunately for Rino, Hakan Calhanoglu is again in his disposal after the one match suspension he suffered against Napoli.

There are two problems that Gattuso must solve quickly before the main event of Serie A’s third round. One is in attack, where Gonzalo Higuain showed only glimpses of his talented against his former team. The Argentine centre forward was very isolated up front and rarely served by his teammates.

While the second node concerns the position of Calhanoglu. According to reports by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Turkish 24 year old will not play as left winger but rather in midfielder. There are two options: Calhanoglu may replace Lucas Biglia as central midfielder or he may act in a more advanced position as attacking midfielder behind Higuain. The second alternative envisages the transformation of the Rossoneri lineup from 4-3-3 to  4-2-3-1.
