AC Milan complete signing of Roma goalkeeper

AC Milan have completed the signing of their number two on goal for next season. Antonio Mirante arrives on a free transfer from Roma.

The Gianluigi Donnarumma saga is expected to continue for one more month. In the meantime, the Rossoneri management have already booked his replacement, Mike Maignan from Lille, but regardless of what happens with the two AC Milan have completed the signing of another goalkeeper.

La Repubblica (via MilanNews.it) reports that AC Milan have chosen Antonio Mirante to become their number two for next season. The Rossoneri have reached a total agreement with the 37-year-old Roma goalkeeper.

Mirante’s contract with Roma expires at the end of the season so he will join Milan on a free transfer. The Rossoneri made an attempt to sign the veteran goalkeeper last summer but without success. At the end he remained with the Giallorossi.

Obviously, Antonio Mirante will not be the replacement of Donnarumma if he leaves. For both technical and personal reasons, the former Juventus, Sampdoria and Bologna goalkeeper will be the perfect number 12, a veteran goalkeeper who can act as a teacher and shoulder to the starter.

Antonio Mirante’s arrival represents another attempt to convince Gianluigi Donnarumma to stay claims La Repubblica. Both players are natives of Castellammare di Stabia. It must be said that regardless of Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future, his brother Antonio will leave this summer.

What will happen to Ciprian Tatarusanu

Antonio Mirante’s signing is directly linked with the future of Ciprian Tatarusanu. The current AC Milan number two has a contract until 2023 and has done really well when asked to step in. The Rossoneri will terminate the contract of Tatarusanu and the Romanian goalkeeper will likely return to his homeland to end his career.
