Giampaolo wants AC Milan forward at Sampdoria

Marco Giampaolo is set to be announced as the new coach of Sampdoria and he is looking to do business at his former club.

Two weeks remain until the winter transfer window closes and Paolo Maldini with Frederic Massara are at work to complete the Rossoneri squad. The management is trying to improve and make Stefano Pioli’s side even more competitive. At the same time, Maldini and Massara are trying to offload unnecessary players.

The only departure so far has been that of Andrea Conti to Sampdoria and the two clubs could do business again shortly. Sampdoria have decided to sack Roberto D’Aversa after the recent negative results. Former AC Milan coach, Marco Giampaolo, will take the guide of the Genoa-based club.

In the next few hours, the appointment of Giampaolo will be made official. Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Giampaolo is already working with Sampdoria for new signings and former player Samuel Castillejo tops his wish list for the attack.

AC Milan are more than willing to negotiate the sale of Castillejo. It is no secret that the Spanish winger has been on the market since last summer. AC Milan are asking for a transfer fee of 7-8 million euros in order to part ways with Samu in January. The winger has a contract until 2023 but is not part of Stefano Pioli’s project.

Sampdoria have inquired about his situation with Giampaolo ready to reteam with his former player. Castillejo has featured briefly for the Rossoneri this season recording a total of 122 minutes played.
