Pioli wants only Napoli attacking midfielder as plan B

AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli would only consider the signing of Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski if the transfer of De Ketelaere fails.

AC Milan are in advanced talks to complete the purchase of Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge. The Belgian attacking midfielder is expected to cost the Rossoneri around 35 million euros. AC Milan have been following De Ketelaere for a very long time and are fully convinced that he’s the perfect number ten for Stefano Pioli’s squad.

The two clubs are still in touch to discuss the last details. Despite the lack of Brugge’s official green light AC Milan are confident that very soon Charles De Ketelaere will become a Red and Black player. If, for any reason, talks are not successful AC Milan will be looking in Serie A for a new attacking midfielder.

Journalist Andrea Longoni reports that Napoli star Piotr Zielinski is Stefao Pioli’s plan B. The Italian coach is a big admirer of the Poland international who has done really great in recent seasons in Serie A with Napoli.

Zielinski has been a pillar of Napoli’s squad since his arrival in 2016. The Polish star was very close to joining the Rossoneri at that time but ultimately decided to follow his Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri. Zielinski is reportedly the only name Pioli would considered according to Longoni.

Despite Pioli’s admiration for Zielinski AC Milan in advanced talks to complete the purchase of De Ketelaere. Maldini and Massara recently traveled to Belgium to close everything. The player has been left out of Brugge’s squad list for their opening league match. Another clear signal that his transfer is just a matter of time.
