PSG to make January move for AC Milan centre back

Paris Saint-Germain have turned their attention to AC Milan defender Pierre Kalulu after missing out on Milan Skriniar.

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara hope to definitively reverse the trend regarding contract renewals. In recent years, some important players have left on a free transfer after the management wants to avoid other similar situations.

Now Maldini and Massara’s goal is to extend the contracts of Rafael Leao, Ismael Bennacer and Pierre Kalulu. The first two have agreements that expire in June 2024 and therefore represent the most urgent cases. While the contract of the French centre back expires in the summer of 2025.

There is more time to negotiate, however, Maldini and Massara hope to be able to close everything in coming months. AC Milan are offering a five-year contract until 2027, the same time-length implemented for the new contracts of Fikayo Tomori and Sandro Tonali. AC Milan want to reward Kalulu for what he has done in recent seasons but his form has not gone unnoticed with Paris Saint-Germain keeping a close eye.

Media Foot reports that PSG consider Pierre Kalulu a perfect alternative to Inter’s Milan Skriniar. PSG tried last summer to sign Inter’s defender but without success. Skriniar is now in talks to extend his contract with Inter so Paris Saint-Germain have turned their attention to Kululu.

New PSG coach Christophe Galtier is using a 3-4-2-1 formation and is eager to add new centre backs to his ranks. The fact that Kalulu is of French nationality is a huge plus factor for the Ligue 1 champions who have only two French player on their regular starting eleven. PSG sporting director is a big admirer of Pierre Kalulu and is set to test AC Milan’s position in January with a tempting bid according to Medi Foot.

Meanwhile AC Milan continue to work on his renewal. The former Lyon currently earns a salary of around 500,000 euros per year. Milan are willing to increase it bringing it to around 2 million. The negotiation was expected to proceed quickly but it is not. Evidently there is some distance between offer and demand.
