From Spain: AC Milan plan January move for Atletico playmaker

AC Milan are seriously interested in Atletico Madrid playmaker Rodrigo de Paul who is out of favor at Wanda Metropolitano.

Paolo Maldini and company are always paying particular attention to the mercato. The upcoming January transfer window will be the first shopping campaign under the direction of new owners RedBird Capital. The Red and Black supports are eagerly waiting to understand what will be the first signings of the Gerry Cardinale era.

According to reports by Mundo Deportivo, AC Milan are seriously thinking about Rodrigo de Paul. The 28-year-old Argentine playmaker in his career has been able to demonstrate that he can occupy every possible role in the midfield.

The former Udinese star was one of the best players in Serie A throughout his five-year spell. However, de Paul has failed to live up to expectations following his €35 million transfer to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2021. The Argentine is no longer a regular starter for coach Simeone and this season has yet to play a match for the entire 90 minutes.

De Paul, a player of depth and absolute quality, finds himself in a difficult spot close to the start of the Qatar World Cup. AC Milan are still looking on the market a replacement for Franck Kessie and are considering the return of de Paul in Italy according to the Spanish newspaper. His salary of €3.5 million per season is within the Rossoneri’s budget.

The Atletico Madrid number 10 is highly appreciated by Rossoneri coach Stefano Pioli repots Mundo Deportivo. Juventus are also keeping tabs on his situation. Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has indicated de Paul as one of the primary targets for the winter transfer window.
