Pioli overhauls attack for Genoa vs Milan

Coach Pioli will make many changes for AC Milan’s next match with Genoa. The Rossoneri need to bounce back after two defeats.

The Rossoneri will face Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium, tonight at 20:45 CET. Milan vs Genoa is a return to the past for new Rossoblu coach Andriy Shevchenko. The Rossoneri are desperate to return to the winning ways after the two painful defeats against Fiorentina and Sassuolo.

With Davide Calabria not yet recovered and Alessio Romagnoli suspended, Pioli’s choices in defence are limited. Pierre Kalulu will play on the right with Theo Hernandez on the left. The central duo will be formed by Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori. The recovery of the English defender is a welcomed news in a time when AC Milan have conceded many goals.

Sandro Tonali can be considered AC Milan’s most in-form midfielder. The Italian will form the midfield duo alongside Franck Kessie. Last week’s combination between Benancer and Bakayoko was a total flop.

Pioli has decided to overhaul the attack for Genoa vs Milan deploying a never before used trio in support of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Junior Messias will play on the left wing with Alexis Saelemaekers on the right and Rade Krunic in the attacking midfielder role. Pitro Pellegri could have more chances in the second half. Ante Rebic and Olivier Giroud remain injured.

GENOA (3-5-2): Sirigu, Biraschi, Masiello, Vasquez, Sabelli, Sturraro, Badelj, Rovella, Cambiaso, Pandev, Ekuban.

AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan, Kalulu, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Tonali, Kessie, Messias, Krunic, Saelemaekers, Ibrahimovic.
