Porto coach Sergio Conceicao is the latest to join a long list of names AC Milan are considering to succeed Gattuso reports Tuttosport.
MILAN NEWS – Gennaro Gattuso’s resignation caught many fans and journalists by surprise. Some expected that after Leonardo’s departure, Rino would reconsider his position but that didn’t happen. Now the Rossoneri must look for a new coach with Sergio Conceicao the latest name being linked with the Red and Black club.
CEO Ivan Gazidis recently affirmed that the announcement of the new coach will take place only after the appointment of a new technical director. The South African manager has offered Paolo Maldini the opportunity to succeed Leonardo. Gazidis wants the new coach of AC Milan to be a shared decision between him and the new technical director.
There are several names that have been linked with AC Milan. Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi is high on the Rossoneri’s list of targets just like Marco Giampaolo, author of a good season with Sampdoria. Sassuolo’s young coach De Zerbi is a far-fetched alternative. While Roberto Donadoni could be the surprising candidate together with Leonardo Jardim.
However, according to Tuttosport, AC Milan are also interested in Sergio Conceicao. The former winger played for many years in Italy representing Inter, Parma and Lazio. In 2017 Conceicao was appointed coach of Porto. The 44-year-old Portuguese coach managed to win the league title in his first year ending the 4-year domination of arch-rivals Benfica.
Sergio Conceicao fits the profile of the new AC Milan coach. He has achieved succees at top level within a short time. In addition, the Portuguese has earned praise for his chameleonic lineups with Porto and his work with young players. Eder Militao is his biggest success story. Signed in the summer of 2018 for just 7 million euros he became of the best defenders in the world and has joined Real Madrid after only one year for a fee of €50 million.
