AC Milan complete €35m summer signing

AC Milan have closed the signing of Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge. The attacking midfielder will be Milan’s first summer purchase.

The summer saga is coming to an end. AC Milan are about to close the signing of Charles De Ketelaere from Club Brugge. The Rossoneri have chosen the Belgian attacking midfielder as the new number ten. De Ketelaere was Paolo Maldini first and only option with talks for Paulo Dybala never going beyond a simple inquiry.

Sportmediaset reports that the agreement for De Ketelaere is imminent. AC Milan’s third offer of €35 million has been accepted by Brugge and on Wednesday the parties could close the final details of the agreement. De Ketelaere’s absence from the Belgium Super Cup match was a clear signal of the positive outcome of talks between the two clubs.

Charles De Ketelaere has already said yes to a five-year contract offer from AC Milan. The 21-year-old Belgian attacking midfielder will earn €2.5 million per season at San Siro. He is expected to join Stefano Piol’s squad for the upcoming tour in Hungary and Austria.

AC Milan have been following the new star of Belgian football for the past season. Despite his young age De Ketelaere has been a key player for Brugge in the last three years helping them win back-to-back league tittles. Charles ended last season with 18 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

Since last year the elegant midfielder is part of the Belgian national team. De Ketelaere is project to take over the number ten role from Brahim Diaz. The Spaniard had a disappointing second year at San Siro eventually losing his spot in Pioli’s eleven by the end of the season.
