AC Milan contact former Juventus defender

AC Milan are thinking again of former Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia who  joined Al-Duhail more than one year ago.

The injury of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has changed a bit the transfer plans of AC Milan. While before the Rossoneri were only considering buying a new striker, now it has become e necessity. Nevertheless, a new defender remains of priority for the club in January.

Maldini and Massara have a long list of targets for the centre back role. Tuttomercatoweb reports that the Rossoneri have recently contacted former Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia.

The 33-year-old centre back joined Al-Duhail in the summer of 2019 becoming one of the highest paid players in the Qatar league. Now Benatia seems eager to return in Europe and AC Milan could be a viable path according to TMW.

However, AC Milan are not the only team to have inquired for Benatia. The former Roma, Juventus and Bayern Munich defender is also in high demand among Turkish clubs.

In a few days Benatia’s contract with Al Duhail expires and the Marocco international will become a free agent. Elliot, who usually oppose the signing of players over thirty, have no problem if they arrive on free transfers.
