AC Milan make final decision on Caldara and Adli

AC Milan need a new defender after the injury of Kjaer while the arrival of another midfielder is not excluded.

Although there are still two Serie A matches left (against Napoli and Empoli) until the end of the year, the mercato is taking center stage. Maldini and Massara have two problems in their hands. The AC Milan management must sign a new centre back and solve the situation in midfield.

A new defender was not in AC Milan’s initial plans but Simon Kjaer’s injury has forced the Rossoneri to look on the market. The return of Mattia Caldara was a valid option. The Italian is a player of Milan but currently on loan at Venezia. The 27-year-old has returned to play at high levels free of injuries.

He is already familiar with Serie A and knowns the club environment. However, AC Milan have decided against recalling Caldara. The former Atalanta and Juventus defender will be allowed to spend the remaining of the season on loan at Venezia. AC Milan will purchase a new centre back. Maldini is following Milenkovic, Christensen and Botman but Elliott must first define the January budget.

A big problem in January will be the absence of Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie who will be busy playing in the African Cup. AC Milan were reportedly considering anticipating the arrival of Yacine Adli from Bordeaux. However, that will not be the case.

Yacine Adli will keep playing in Ligue 1. The 21-year-old pulls the strings of Bordeaux’s midfield and will continue his grown in France. Adli has scored one goal and provided five assists in 18 appearances so far. The €10 million signing will join AC Milan at the end of the season.
