AC Milan midfielder asks contract termination

Suddenly, former AC Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo wants to leaves the Rossoneri and is in discussions with the club to terminate his contract.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb.com, former captain Riccardo Montolivo and AC Milan could part ways very soon. The 33 year old defensive midfielder is negotiating with the Rossoneri the immediate termination of his contract.

Riccardo Montolivo signed a contract renewal with AC Milan on May 2016 and his new deal with the club expires next season. The Italian has become a peripheral figure in recent seasons and the former Fiorentina would like to try a new adventure where he could play more regularly.

The former captain joined AC Milan in 2012 on a free transfer and during the past six seasons he has played 158 games and has scored 10 times. Montolivo was part of the Rossoneri team that won Italian Super Cup in 2016 and that remains his only trophy to date. Montolivo’s departure would force AC Milan to sign at least two midfielders this summer.
