AC Milan sporting director: Rossoneri reveal Leonardo’s future

With an official statement AC Milan club has denied any rumors about the departure of sporting director Leonardo at the end of the season.

For several days, Italian press has questioned Leonardo’s stay at AC Milan. Multiple sources have reported on the alleged conflictual relationship with Ivan Gazidis and doubts by Milan owner Elliott Management Corporation about his transfer market business. The name Lille sporting director, Luis Campos, has circulated as possible successor to Leonardo.

Annoyed by this inaccurate rumors the club has clarified everything with an official statement. The Rossoneri responded to an inquest of information by Tuttomercatoweb: The relationship between Leonardo and Gazidis is positive and the intention is to go ahead with a long-term project“. Therefore there will be no such changes in the Rossoneri management.

AC Milan had to take a firm stand since rumors were bothering the Red and Black environment. Several news outlets reported that Leonardo would resign at the end of the season due to feeling constantly in doubt. The gossip first emerged from Spain, from Mundo Deportivo, and then it was also spread widely in Italy.

At this point the possible farewell of Leonardo and the arrival of Luis Campos in his place must be considered inexistent. The Portuguese sporting director, close to super agent Jorge Mendes, is a great talent scout and knows where to find cheap and talented signings. He did a great job at Monaco and is doing well even at Lille. However, it’s Leonardo who will continue as AC Milan sporting director.
