AC Milan to offer midfielder plus cash for Domenico Berardi

AC Milan are interested in Sassuolo star Domenico Berardi. The Rossoneri could offer Pobega plus cash to land the Italian winger.

During last summer Stefano Pioli made a precise transfer request to AC Milan. The Italian coach had asked the signing of Italian right winger Domenico Berardi. Despite AC Milan’s attempt it was difficult to convince Sassuolo to part ways with a player that had just won the European championship for less than 35 million euros.

Nevertheless, Domenico Berardi remains an important transfer target for the Rossoneri for two main reasons. The first is obviously Stefano Pioli who is a big sponsor of his purchase. The AC Milan coach considers the 27-year-old right winger the perfect player for his 4-2-3-1 formation and for his idea of football.

Furthermore, AC Milan have struggled on the right wing in recent seasons. Alexis Saelemaekers is a constant player but he does not have a keen eye for goal. While Junior Messias is a more attacking-minded player, the Brazilian winger is not as prolific as required from an AC Milan winger.

Sassuolo are still asking for over €30 million in order to sell Domenico Berardi. A high fee for AC Milan who have prioritized investments in other positions. However, the Rossoneri have something that Sassuolo would love to have. Journalist Andrea Longoni reports that Tommaso Pobega could be the key to land Domenico Berardi.

Pobega is doing really well at Torino this season. He will return at AC Milan but Pioli doesn’t see him fit for a two-man midfield. Instead, Sassuolo are seriously interested in Tommaso Pobega and plan to offer him a similar path to that of Manuel Locatelli. Pobega plus a figure of around €10 million could be enough in exchange for Berardi.
