AC Milan vs Sassuolo, probable lineups

AC Milan will host Sassuolo at San Siro on Monday. The Rossoneri must bounce back after the Fiorentina defeat.

After the excellent performance in Champions, the Rossoneri turn their attention to Serie A. AC Milan vs Sassuolo will be played on Sunday at the San Siro, at 15:00 CET. The Rossoneri must bounce back after the Fiorentina fiasco even though matches against Sassuolo have traditionally been problematic.

The good news is the return of Mike Maignan. Coach Stefano Pioli confirmed that the French goalkeeper has fully recovered. “Maignan is fine. He started working with the team last week. Tomorrow he will play, he is ready. He accelerated a lot because he has a great mentality. He will play tomorrow. Tatarusanu did well and I’m happy with him but tomorrow Mike will be back on the pitch”.

While Mike Maignan has recovered Fikayo Tomori needs some more time. That’s why the central duo will be formed by captain Alessio Romagnoli and Simon Kjaer. Alessandro Florenzi will replace Kalulu on the right while Theo Hernandez completes the back four.

Stefano Pioli will make one change in midfield. The Italian coach will give Sandro Tonali a chance to rest. Ismael Benncer will play alongside Franck Kessie.

Pioli has only one doubt for Milan vs Sassuolo. After the fine performance in Champions, Junior Messias could be handed his first start in Serie A although Alexis Saelemaekers is slightly advantaged. Rafael Leal will play on the left wing with Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading the attack.

AC MILAN (4-2-3-1): Maignan, Florenzi, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez, Bennacer, Kessie, Saelemaekers (Messias), Diaz, Leao, Ibrahimovic.

SASSUOLO (4-2-3-1): Consigli, Tolja, Chiriches, Ferrari, Rogerio, Magnanelli, Lopez, Berardi, Raspadori, Traore, Scamacca.
