Romagnoli apologizes to Milan fans after penalty error

AC Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli caused an unnecessary foul in the penalty area that cost three points to the Rossoneri yesterday with Empoli.

Another disappointing performance and result. For the third consecutive match AC Milan is unable to go beyond a draw. Gennaro Gattuso’s squad dominates for the majority of the 90 minutes but fails to close the game.

The Rossoneri lead for more than one hour at the Carlo Castellani stadium but then a penalty in the 71st minute destroys everything. The protagonist of the error was Alessio Romagnoli who until then was nearly impeccable. After the game the AC Milan captain apologized to the fans.

I am disappointed and angry with myself. I take full responsibility, it should not have happened and without that mistake the match would have ended otherwise. I apologize to the fans of AC Milan and everyone. We’ll turn the page. We could closed the game earlier because in Serie A, as soon as you make a mistake you pay.

Without my mistake it would have been another game. Now we have to think about winning against Sassuolo. We lack the strength to close the games. It was important not to concede goal and we succeeded. But the path is the right one, we must continue to work and the results will come“.
